During my recent travels with the Pachamama Alliance to South America, I experienced the majesty of the Andes Mountains and the Achuar Tribe of the Amazon Rainforest. It was an amazing experience, especially the opportunity to spend quality time with the like-minded people who were traveling with me.
I watched with awe, the perseverance and commitment the Achuar people have towards the preservation of the Amazon region. They are also teaching the other indigenous tribes of South America what they are learning and educating all of us in the modern world to emerge from our current lifestyle of destructive consumerism and see the compromises we are forcing our culture and our planet to make.
The Eagle and the Condor Prophesy is becoming a reality in this small little country in the center of the world! It is being spread around the globe with the help of Bill and Lynn Twist, the co-founders of the Pachamama Alliance. It was no coincidence that Rich and I were on this trip with them to experience and bring home this new energy. We are committed to help awaken our members to the birthing of a new world consciousness. I learned and experienced the value of the mission statement of the Pachamama Alliance “living an earth sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence” on this planet.
I am now ready to take action in my own life and business by adopting the same mission statement. As the world’s largest supplier of life-giving oxygen, the Amazon Rainforest is in dire need of protection from a toxic environment, pesticides and deforestation. I saw and felt what it is like to awaken from the dream of living one day at a time with gratitude, faith and sufficiency as these indigenous people do. This requires a great commitment to be aware of our thoughts and of the false fear that there is “not enough”.
As a result of this trip, I came home with a renewed vigor and commitment to turn my business GREEN. Thinking along these lines, my journey made it very clear that I must now take a stand. Regardless what size my business may become or what challenges I might encounter, “going green” is responsible and makes good life-sustaining changes. I became more deeply aware that I can consciously vote with my money.
As one of the founding members of the Consciousness Center of Orange County, I feel such a deep sense of gratitude that I have this group to help remind me to stay AWAKE! So many of the practices that the Pachamama Alliance and the Achuar Tribe incorporate into their daily practices are what we are doing at the CCOC.
